Early Symptoms of Parkinson

The signs and symptoms of the Parkinson’s disease vary from person to person. The major signs and symptoms of the disease most of the times go unrecognized. Initially the symptoms start at one side of the body and worsen on that side and begin to affect to the other side too. The characteristics symptoms of the Parkinson’s disease are

Tremor or shaking which is seen in hand, leg or arm. The tremor is effective when the person is sitting or standing still when awake and the effect lowers as the person starts moving.

Slow motion which is commonly known as bradykinesia. In Parkinson’s disease the voluntary motion of the body parts is slowed which makes the movements of body parts difficult and time consuming. When a person walks he may be very quick with short steps i.e. shuffling and there are more chances of falling down.

Rigidness in muscles or stiffness in muscles. This is one of the early symptoms of the Parkinson’s disease. The stiffness in the muscles can be observed at various places like neck, legs, face, and other various body parts. The muscles here are tired and achy.

Loss of balance, which is generally seen in the later stages of the disease. Posture of a person is affected here.

Loss in automatic movements. When a person walks the action like swinging arm is quite natural. In Parkinson’s disease these actions are diminished as the body parts are rigid. A person looks animated most of the times as blinking of eye, and other actions too are lost here. Some people may show a fixed staring expression.

Speech problems, there are issues with the speech, generally the person may speak rapidly and softly or mumbles most of the times making it difficult to understand.

Dementia is generally seen in the later stages of the disease. Where there are problems with mental issues.

In Parkinson’s disease there is disorder in nervous system that affects the movements of the body parts. Tremor is the most common sign of the disease. Initially the tremor can be observed in one hand which is hard to recognize. When the disease becomes more severe it causes slow and freezing of movements.

Generally Parkinson’s disease is accompanied by the following issues:

  • Depression
  • Sleeping problems
  • Difficulty in swallowing and chewing
  • Constipation
  • Fatigue and loss of energy
  • Urinary problems
  • Sexual dysfunction
